Did you know that Disney is donating time, effort and funds to help with the Gulf Oil Spill?  That's right, Disney's Animal Kingdom and The Living Seas at EPCOT are playing host to sea turtles harmed by the recent oil spill in the Gulf.  These animals are receiving medical treatment and will eventually be released back into the wild.
Not only is Disney providing medical treatment for these endangered animals, they are also contributing funds in the amount of $50,000 to the National Audubon Society.  As if that was not generous enough, Disney has also donated another $50,000 to small groups doing their part to clean up the damage caused by the oil.
Living on the Gulf Coast, this means a lot.  Growing up in an area that boasts some of the world's most beautiful beaches and unique aquatic life, and watching them be devastated in one brief moment is hard.  Not only has this event affected the pristine shores of Northwest Florida,Alabama, and Louisianna, but the livelihood of many people who depend on these waters to live.
I am sure I speak for many when I say "Thank you Disney!"

  1. Great news! Wishes!A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams is on its way back to Magic Kingdom. We are soooo excited. This is our favorite fireworks show. It is truly what Disney is about. It encompasses all the magic, nastalga, and excitement that is Magic Kingdom. If you have never seen it, be sure to watch it sitting directly in front of the castle when you go. I am not ashamed to admit that sitting with my husband, holding our children, and watching Wishes! makes me cry every time. Just another bit of pixie dust that Disney brings our way.

  4. For all of you nostalgic Disney Enthusiasts, you will be pleased with this little tidbit of information. As of today, we get a bit of park history back. One of our favorite rides, Tomorrrowland Tansit Authority, will be renamed. We will have the best of both worlds, past and present. From its opening in 1975 until 1994 the ride was referred to as the WEDway PeopleMover. In 1994 it aquired the name that many guests recognize today - Tomorrowland Transit Authority (or as we refer to it, TTA). The attraction has officially become Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. We say, "Kudos to Disney!", for bringing back a little nostalgia.

  5. Beginning August 26, Disney will begin taking reservations for this year's Candlelight Processional. Reservations are not necessary to watch the processional, but dinner packages require advance reservation. This beautiful Christmas spectacular, held annually at EPCOT, features not only the most beautiful music of the season, but spotlights celebrity narrators telling the Christmas Story as well. As of today, the list is not complete, but should be soon. Don't miss the opportunity to celebrate the season Disney with this monumental event.

  6. Attention all Star Tours Fans!!!!!!!!

August 14 will be the "Last Tour to Endor". This exciting party will be an after-hours hard ticket event. This will be the last chance to ride the Star Tours we all know and love. Don't think of this as a "goodbye", but rather as a "see ya later". Imagineers have been working countless hours to re-imagine the Star Tours experience. As of now, the ride is slated to open again in 2011 as Star Tours II 3D. Lucas and Disney have teamed up again to allow us to travel the galaxy with our favorite Star Wars characters.
Be sure to buy your tickets now. You do NOT want to miss this. Spend the evening watching the chracters do battle - on the dance floor. Entertainment abounds at this once in a lifetime galactic get-together. The highlight of the evening will be a Star Wars themed fireworks display.
Tickets for the event are $75 advance and $89 at the gate if they are available.

Do you know what yesterday, August 9, 2010, was? The 41st Anniversary of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. We discovered that this was the first ride to be built and opened after Walt's death.
This attraction has become a favorite among park guests. It sure is a hit with our family.
Did you know that there is a new HM movie in the works? It is rumored to be free of Eddie Murphy's comic relief this time. Sooooo exciting!!
